We were entrusted with designing Hyderabad’s first inclusive park for differently-abled users, within an existing GHMC park. The site came with a unique set of challenges: varied contours and a strong history of everyday community use across age groups. From the start, our intent was clear. We didn’t want to introduce segregation through separate, labelled zones. We aimed to preserve the park’s existing spirit while making it genuinely accessible to everyone. Paths, play, seating, and gathering spaces were rethought as one integrated landscape, so the experience stayed shared rather than divided. For us, inclusive design was never an add-on. It was empathy built into the basics, and it didn’t mean compromising anyone’s joy. It meant expanding it.
